Members of the Horner Park Advisory Council have been fighting city bureaucracy for close to two years to build a memorial for neighborhood fallen Chicago Police officer, Michael A. Ceriale. This Saturday, at 11:00 a.m., the Council and the Michael A. Ceriale Memorial Foundation will dedicate a memorial and flagpole to Ceriale near the field house at California and Berteau Avenues.
Ceriale, who graduated from Gordon Tech High School, was a 26 year-old rookie in 1998 when he was shot while on a narcotics surveillance. He died six days later.
The public is invited to participate in the ceremony and a celebratory luncheon immediately after at Brisku’s Bistro, 4100 N. Kedzie.
