You have to be a total Scrooge to not love the CTA’s Holiday Train. Twinkling lights! Santa!! Candy canes!!!
The greatest invention in public transit will roll into Brown Line stations this weekend. Schedules have been posted for Thursday, Dec. 1; Friday, Dec. 2; and Saturday, Dec. 3, including northbound and southbound stops. It’s been our experience that these times are wildly approximate: As kiddies and their parents scramble to take pictures with Santa, stops at each station last longer than normal, which the schedule fails to take into account.
If you haven’t see it before, besides just a train decked out with lights, there’s a special “Santa Car” where Santa rides his sleigh and waves to people as he rides by. Regular folks can ride the train too (but not on the Santa car), but you’ll need to pay regular CTA train fare.
All aboard to Kimball, or should we say the North Pole.
