Get Crafty (and Tipsy) at New Event Series

By Patty Wetli | Thursday, May 3, 2012

We hear tell that in olden times, folks used to entertain themselves at things called quilting bees, back in the Dark Ages before electricity, television and Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Mignonette Bridal, 1747 W. Belmont Ave., and Urban Folk Circuit are reviving the tradition, sort of, with a new monthly Craft Bar series that kicks off this Friday, May 4, 6 -8 p.m., at Mignonette.  The relaxed gathering of crafters includes drinks and refreshments, possibly a few quilts but probably not any bees.

Guests are welcome to bring whatever project they’re working on or to comb through supplies for inspiration. To get the creative juices flowing, Urban Folk Circuit will also offer workshops on upcycling your ratty vintage t-shirts and old classic buttons into fresh accessories.

The Craft Bar will be held the first Friday of every month; cost is $5.
