It’s no secret that Chicago Public Schools are facing?a budget deficit that makes the Chicago Transit Authority look good, but local residents can make an impact on the cash-strapped agency through the local school council elections. While the positions might sound as glamourous as the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, members of a local school council oversee how money and school resources are used, and they also keep tabs on the school’s principal.
The Center Square Journal is currently in the process of compiling a database of profiles on each of the candidates vying for these often overlooked positions in area elementary schools and high schools. Below is a list of candidates and the schools they hope to serve. LSC elections for elementary schools take place on April 21, and LSC elections for high schools take place on April 22.
