Given the highly changeable nature of Metra news recently, this post could be moot in a matter of days. But as of today, a Metra spokesperson indicated that the new platform construction project could start this year, despite the recent announcement that the larger bridge construction project has been delayed until next year. At this time, Metra is reviewing the platform construction plans to see if they can get started, even though the old northbound platform is still in use. The temporary southbound platform will continue being used in the meantime. Metra will update the signage at the platform and its website when a decision is reached.
