City Crime Stats: Area Battery Up, Theft Down

Between Oct. 26 and Nov. 18, the Center Square Journal‘s coverage area saw 226 reported crimes, with 43 of those leading to arrests.

In that period, beats 1713, 1911, 1912, 2031 and 2032 saw 48 battery incidents, 44 thefts, 25 incidents of criminal damage, 24 motor vehicle thefts and 24 burglaries.

Between Sept. 25 and Oct. 25, the most commonly reported incident was theft, with 89 reported during the period. There were also 46 reported batteries, 35 incidents of criminal damage and 31 burglaries.

There were fewer than a dozen assaults, criminal trespassing, deceptive practices, offenses involving children, “other offenses,” public peace violations, robberies and weapons violations.

Beat 1713 covers Foster Avenue to the north, Wilson Avenue to the south, the River to the west and Kimball Avenue to the east. Beat 1911 covers Lawrence Avenue to the north, Irving Park Road to the south, Damen Avenue to the east and the River to the west. 1912 also covers Lawrence Avenue to Irving Park Road from north to south, Clark Street to the east and Damen Avenue to the west. Beat 2031 covers Foster Avenue to the north, Lawrence Avenue to the south, Leavitt Street to the east and the River to the west. Beat 2032 also covers Foster Avenue to Lawrence Avenue north to south, from Clark Street on the east to Leavitt Street on the west.

Though the future of CAPS meetings in 2013 is uncertain, those scheduled through the end of 2012 are still to be held. Each beat in CSJ‘s coverage area has at least one more meeting scheduled through the end of the year.

  • Beats 1911 and 1912 meet on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. at Chase Park, 4701 N. Ashland Ave.
  • Beat 2031 meets on Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. at Anderson Pavilion, 2751 W. Winona St.
  • Beat 2032 meets on Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. at Ravenswood Evangelical Church 4900 N. Damen Ave.
  • Beat 1713, along with 1711 and 1712 are meeting for a Holiday Party on Dec. 3. The place and time have yet to be announced.
