Artists take notice: Organizers of The Raven street fair are looking for talented individuals to include in this year’s artists showcase. The annual festival will take place June 18 through June 20 at?Chase Park, 4701 N. Ashland Ave., and part of the street fair will be dedicated to artist to?display their hair pieces,paintings, jewelry, sculptures, and any other items they?ve concocted. To get a table for all three days, artists have to pay a $100 fee. Non-profit organization are also welcome to buy a spot at the festival.
This year’s Raven street fair will also include an expanded kids section, says Raven Festival Committee co-chairman Catherine Denny. The kids area will include activities such as?face painting, space jumps, a petting zoo, and live entertainment. Denny says?The Lillstreet Art Center will also be on hand to give free art lessons to kids.
And, of course, there will be plenty of things to do for adults when the hour gets late. The fair will feature food from local eateries, like Byron’s Hot Dogs and the Spot. The hip-hop tribute band Too White Crew will come out and play Saturday night, and the Dave Mathews cover band the Trippen Billies will close out the fair on Sunday. Beer will be available in abundance to raise spirits and satisfy the thirsty. Denny says she wants the fair to be fun for the whole neighborhood.
?It?s a community event,? Denny says.? ?We just hope that the people will come out and support Chase Park and have a good time.
Entry to the street fair costs $5, and proceeds from the event will benefit the Chase Park Advisory Council, Community Building Tutors, and the Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce. For a complete rundown of events and times, check out the?Chase Advisory Council’s website.
