Snow Big Deal

The Chicago Weather Service reported one inch of snow at Chicago O’Hare Airport as of noon today, but anyone with a window can see that we’ve probably tripled that by 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. Arterial streets are clogged as cars struggle through the unplowed slush and the Chicago Tribune reports that over 400 flights have been cancelled at Midway and O’Hare Airports already.

How’s about that for your first snow of the year?

For a little perspective, check out this WGN-TV archival film of the 1979 Blizzard, or watch the Official Chicago Plow Tracker to see how all those Teamsters and Operating Engineers earn our annual love. You might also consider signing up for the Adopt-A-Sidewalk, so you can keep on shoveling once you get out there.

Got any photos of the snow to share? Send them to us with this form or add them to our Flickr Group and we’ll post the best tomorrow.
