Garage Fire in Northcenter

A garage caught fire this morning at 4802 N Damen. The small fire was quickly put out by the Chicago Fire Department. There were no injuries. Photo by Brad Ball.

Chicago Fire Department Engine 112 responded to a one-story garage fire at 4208 N. Damen at 10:03 a.m. There were no injuries and the fire was put out within minutes. The cause of the fire has not been determined, according to the Fire Department.

“It was scary,” said homeowner Tara Leinenweber, who was home when the fire broke out. “Fortunately, nothing was really damaged. It was kind of my husband’s hang out place,” she said.

Update (7/10): Reader Ed Flam emailed us more photos of the fire. “I was driving by on Hutchinson, noticed heavy smoke pouring out of the garage, called 911 at 10AM when the CFD arrived, I snapped off these 3 pictures,” writes Flam. Ed’s photos have been added to the gallery below.
