In honor of the tenth anniversary of 9/11, the Ravenswood community has organized Bells of Ravenswood, a contemplative architectural walk, this Sunday, September 11.

The 1.5-mile walk begins at 3:00 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 4550 N. Hermitage Ave. The route passes a number of other churches, many of which will open their doors to share their history, along with various schools and buildings of architectural significance, including the Abbott Mansion. Churches not included on the walk have been asked to ring their bells at select times throughout the day.

A memorial service is planned for 4:00 p.m. at the Northcenter Town Center, Belle Plaine and Damen, and the walk concludes at 5:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2215 W. Irving Park Rd., with the dedication of the church’s restored bell tower.

There is a suggested donation of $10 for the walk, with proceeds to be shared between All Saints and St. Benedict.

OOOps.  @Center Square: We mistakenly shared that the memorial will be in the Northcenter Square.  Though we will stop there, the Memorial will be at the rock formation on the Coonley School grounds at 4pm with Alderman Ameya Pawar as a special guest speaker.  Great photo op by the way.   Listen for the bells throughout the ward.
