Astor’s Beauty Supply Building For Sale

On the market since October, the 1931 mixed-use building at 2215 W. Lawrence Ave. has a 2,700 sq ft. of commercial space and two two-bedroom apartments at top. First listed at $595,000 in October, owner Tai Phan has since dropped the price to $524,000.

The beauty supply business on the first floor, owned by Carlos and Mayra Buenrostro, is not part of the sale.

Next door to an alley and Lincoln Square Auto Repair, Phan bought the building in 1990 for $135,000, so it seems that just about any sale price will put him ahead.

What would you like to see here? Is this the kind of location that would benefit from the planned Lawrence Ave. streetscape?

    It should also be noted that this was the location where Mark Wahlberg had a photo shoot in 2008 (year is approximate). There was a mural painted on the side of the building promoting a movie that Wahlberg was in. He and the mural artists posed by the mural while a large entourage around watched. The mural is now gone, but the memories remain.

        The mural was for the movie, Max Payne.  I tooks photos of Mark Wahlberg, Ludacris and the mural artists. Here’s a link.

    What would I like to see there? A park. It would also be nice to see a park used with the empty lot across the street. (I live in the apartment building across from this building).
