Chicago Police confirmed a reported
armed strongarm robbery at Mandy’s Liquor, 1957 W. Lawrence Ave., this evening at 9:39 p.m. Moments after the robbery was committed, two male suspects were apprehended and are in custody of 20th District police, says Chicago Police media affairs.
No further details on the suspects or the victims were available at the time of publication.
Two other robberies on the block of 1900 W. Lawrence Ave. have been reported this year.
Update 12/10/11 2:45 p.m.
According to Chicago Police news affairs, one of the two assailants, John Lawson, 19, of Olympia Fields, and Deondre Smith, 18, of Hammond, Indiana, punched the store clerk in the face, hopped over the counter then took $170 in cash. The two offenders were caught less than a block away by police and then charged with armed robbery.
Both offenders are scheduled to appear in bond court today.
