17th Police District Plans Special Meeting On Auto Theft

Auto theft is a continuing problem in the 17th Police District, which includes Ravenswood Manor, includes Albany Park and runs west of the river to Cicero Ave. between Belmont and Devon Aves (here’s a PDF map). Next Monday, August 15, at 7:00 p.m. the 17th District is planning a special meeting to address the problem. From a message from Sgt. Kristin Barker, 17th District Beat Team Sergeant:

“We would like to invite you all to attend a special meeting with Commander [Melissa] Staples on Monday, August 15th at 7pm in our Community Room, located at 4650 N. Pulaski Road. This meeting will focus on the crimes of Auto Theft and Theft from Auto, both of which we have been hard hit with this year. The Commander is asking for volunteers to assist us with a new program that seeks to get the word out to the entire district about these crimes and what can be done to reduce and eventually eliminate this from our area. We have been working very hard to reduce this crime over the past several months and have had some success, but we need strong support from the community in order to really impact this crime and those that commit it. We hope you can attend!”
