Yep. We know you’ve been waiting: This is the weekend Foghat will make an appearance in Roscoe Village!
On Saturday and Sunday, on Belmont Ave. between Damen and Leavitt Aves., the Roscoe Village Burger Fest will be cooking up a bevy of meat and serving up some music with 90′s-rock Smithereens headlining Saturday and old-rock Foghat closing out Sunday night. Also, one-time Lakeview resident Todd Carey, who has been featured here before, will also be performing. (We’ve got the full line-up here.)
If it seems like there used to be a different festival on Belmont, your memory isn’t failing you. This is the second year for Burger Fest, which used to be the Belmont Art & Music Festival. Chicago street festivals have become an intense competition in recent years, as big events can be found only blocks apart. This weekend Lincoln Square will host the Chicago Roots & Folk Festival, Northcenter has the Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club Family Fest, and then there’s the Gold Coast Art Festival, the Irish American Fest and the Dave Matthews Caravan down south. Where’s a fun-loving guy and gal to go?
The folks at the Roscoe Village Chamber, who are sponsoring Burger Fest, are hoping that the unique food offerings on Belmont will draw your attention away from the other fests. Let’s hope they do, because Belmont Avenue deserves a smash hit.
