St. Alphonsus Oktoberfest Grows A Bit This Weekend

By Mike Fourcher | Wednesday, September 21, 2011

In past years Lincoln Square’s Octoberfest has captured the North Side beer drinking attention, but this year’s St. Alphonsus’ Oktoberfest, kicking off on Friday at 5:00 p.m. on Lincoln Ave. and Southport Ave., is vying for greatness.

St. Alphonsus Church, 1429 W. Wellington Ave., hosts the festival, but switched vendors this year from Star Events to Special Events Management and things got a lot bigger. This year there’s two stages and a whole separate “Kinderfest” on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The festival runs on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The entrance fee is $5 per head. Free admission to anyone +1 with a military ID.
