Set up at 4250 N Paulina St. and hosted by Bethany United Church of Christ and Lill Street Art Center, the set up includes the requisite giant screen and booming speakers, but also an, “industrial-size popcorn machine” and grill, according to organizer Mark Rickmeier. The lawn opens up at 5:30 p.m. and the movie is set to start after dusk, around 7:30 p.m. Free for kids 13 and under, $5 per adult gets food, snacks, soda and water for all attendees.
Rickmeier has been organizing the gatherings every month this summer, and over time they’ve steadily grown. July’s movie brought about 50 people, and this time he’s expecting about twice the number. It’s enough people that Ald. Ameya Pawar says he’ll come and who knows – it’s only a block away from Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s house. Maybe hizzoner’s family will come!
