The Chicago Commission on Animal Care & Control is conducting a “non-stop” animal adoption event this Saturday and Sunday at Petsmart, 2655 N. Elston Ave. According to the event promotional materials, dogs and cats will be available for adoption – but who knows what else they’ll have on hand. According to CACC’s website, the agency impounds approximately 24,000 animals a year. The average daily population is between 300 to 500 animals including dogs, cats reptiles and others. As an open-door shelter, ACC never turns an animal away.
Even, as our experience shows, roosters.
The adoption event starts Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and wraps up at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. If you’re interested in volunteering, email darlene.duggan@ex.cityofchicago.org If you’re interested in sponsoring the event, contact brad.powers@ex.cityofchicago.org
