Lunafest: A Movie Festival By, For, About Women

By Samantha Abernethy | Thursday, April 7, 2011

Music Box Theatre hosts Lunafest on April 12, a national film festival showcasing works by women filmmakers, benefiting the Neighborhood Parents Network and the Breast Cancer Fund.

Lunafest features short films by, for and about women. Only one woman, Kathryn Bigelow, has ever taken home the Academy Award for best director—Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker—and only four women have ever been nominated.

Sponsored by the makers of Lunabar, the event starts with a reception and light appetizers at the theater. Your $25 ticket also buys your first drink and a goodie bag at the after-party at Blue Bayou, where there will be a silent auction.

Purchase tickets here.
