Most local business owners would tell you that last weekend’s Black Friday was all about malls and big box stores. So this weekend is when neighborhood shops show you the love with festivals, santas, ice carvings and lots more.
The local festivities all get started tonight with The Paulina Station Merchants Holiday Open House. From 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. shops on Lincoln Ave. between Belmont Ave. and Addison St. will feature carolers, Mr. and Mrs. Claus and Ice Sculptures.
Tomorrow evening store owners and the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce would like your attention to move to Southport Ave. between Belmont Ave. and Irving Park Rd. for the Southport Holiday Stroll between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. Here too, Santa will make an appearance, along with carolers and something we’re interested to see: horse drawn sleigh rides.
Then on Saturday and Sunday the Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce and the Roscoe Village Neighbors are kicking off Winterfest Weekend with a 5:00 p.m. tree lighting at Hot Woks/Cool Sushi, 2032 W. Roscoe Ave. Stores along Roscoe will then stay open for “late nite shopping” until 9:00 p.m. On Sunday, Roscoe Village’s Winterfest will continue along Roscoe Ave. from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. with carolers, trolley rides and yes, horse drawn sleigh rides.
If you’re into Santa, horses and a capella singing, this is your big weekend!
