My mother is proud of her grandchildren. ?She has three boys, one girl, and Otis, my younger sister’s Akita/Boxer mix. And for many of us (including my neighbor Jane, who has rescued and loved her fair share of dogs), our four-legged friends are considered family.
Easter events in our community are?aplenty?(check our events calendar for details), and if you are a dog owner, you have not been forgotten. ?On Saturday, March 27, Horner Park (2741 W. Montrose Avenue)?will host the Seventh Annual Dog Hunt from 10 a.m. to noon.
This event can attract some 100 local canine pals with its doggie egg hunt (the fenced area is full of doggie-treat filled eggs), a bonnet parade (do not forget to dress-up your furry pal), photos with the Easter Bunny (bring your camera), and several contests, including an owner/dog look-alike contest and a best dressed dog contest. Horner Park Director Tom McManamon said there will be many?sponsors on hand (like the Anti-Cruelty Society and Paws) who will be offering?special?treats and gifts for participants.
The entrance?fee is $5 per dog and you can pay at the park (arrive early) or on the Chicago Park District’s Web site.
So, dress up Fido and celebrate our many canine family members in true Easter style!
