Indie Wed Show Says ‘I Do’ With a Twist

By Patty Wetli | Friday, January 28, 2011

You are so not walking down the aisle to “Here Comes the Bride” played by your church organist. But it’s not like you’re going to find an unconventional musician at a traditional wedding show.

Enter the Indie Wed Show.

Founded by Kelly Maron, owner of Paper Stories, a suburban letterpress studio, the Indie Wed Show is like the Sundance Film Fest for brides. Its funkier vibe is aimed at people looking to create a wedding day as edgy and modern as they are, or maybe who just want to add a special, non-cookie cutter touch.

This year’s show is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 29, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., at the Ravenswood Event Center (enter at 4043 N. Ravenswood).

Expect food tastings, music and dance performances, as well as bride and groom lounges featuring free massages, mini mani’s, and more.

More than 90 vendors will be on hand, everything from florists to caterers, photographers to stationers, jewelers to ministers. How can you not love The Rev For Whatev?

Advanced ticket sales online have closed, but admittance is still available at the door for $12.
