This weekend the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce kicks off their 24th Annual Apple Fest, with dozens of food and retail vendors, a kids entertainment stage, live local music, cooking demonstrations, a beer garden and even apple wine. The festival is Saturday only, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. along the 4700 N. Lincoln Ave. block.
The mere fact that the festival starts so early in the morning should make it clear: This is not a beer-hamburger-cover-band kind of street festival. There’s lots of food and kid-centric activities and almost all the vendors come from the Lincoln Square area.
It’s also, as you might expect from something so neighborhoody, a bit quirky. You can enter your dog into a costume contest, and the festival is looking for artists to submit entries for an apple art contest [PDF download].
