A Rundown on the Ravenswood ArtWalk

This past weekend marked the 11th Annual Ravenswood ArtWalk Tour of Arts & Industry where masters of their craft opened their studio doors and or set up shop, to share and sell their best works.

My walk began at the Architural Artifacts Museum at 4325 N. Ravenswood, and continued north through studios housing the  clay work of David Todd Trost, photography from the likes of Catherine Schwalbe and Myk Little, and painted works from Ginny Sykes and Carol Fletcher.

I ended at the corner of Wilson and Ravenswood where the street fest housed tents with art for sale and kids hula-hooped in front of a stage where a vintage punk band were amped up and jamming away.

Though a dedicated fan of local artists, I found choosing a piece for purchase out of all the great work was no easy task. Affording certain pieces was even more difficult, so an $8 coaster purchase made for a happy walk home.

“Vintage punk band” is a new one. We like it. BTW, we’re called I Lost Control.
