The Chicago River swells after heavy spring rains, submurging the trunks of shoreline trees between Rockwell and Horner Park.

Water levels surged on the Chicago River as spring storms brought torrential downpours to the area. Docks were completely submerged in the above photo, taken as the the river was near its peak. Below, the river flows closer to its normal depth after a week of dryer weather.
