In the late 1980′s Bea Tersch decided to fight back against the Latin Kings by building an innovative neighborhood beautification program and creating new neighborhood group. Today’s residents and members of Tersch’s group, the Greater Rockwell Organization, live gang-free with flowers on practically every corner – and houses worth double or triple what they were worth 20 years ago.
It’s a fact: Our area has become a Beer Neighborhood. In some ways, Lincoln Square, Northcenter, and Ravenswood seemed almost destined to be Chicago’s premier beer neighborhood. So which came first: the beer or the beer-drinker?
